ABSTRACT
This paper aims to demystify the Big Data phenomena through the lens of data as a currency for monetization in creating new value. It pres-ents a strategic perspective for leaders to cultivate a digital mindset in decision-making for purposes of advancing management, inspiring innovation, facilitating engagement, and influencing positive effects for competitive advantage. C-level execu-tives, with titles such as chief executive officer (CEO), chief information officer (CIO), chief data officer (CDO) and chief technology officer (CTO) use and benefit from Big Data and Ma-chine Learning practices to find hidden opportunities with strategic value (The Economist, 2015).
